Frequently asked questions.
Is there a cut off date for booking a tour?
The earliest you book, the more likely you are to get your first choice of motorbike. Generally we close bookings one month before the start of the tour.
Are your tours suitable for passengers (pillions)?
Yes! Our routes are designed for comfort and scenic beauty. Most of our rental bikes (like the BMW GS and Ducati Multistrada) are optimized for two-up riding. We select hotels and lunch stops that offer a premium experience for both the rider and the passenger.
What riding skill level is required for your tours?
Most of our tours are rated 'Medium.' They are perfect for intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable with mountain hairpins and narrow coastal roads. We recommend at least two years of consistent riding experience before joining our more technical tours like the Amalfi Coast or Sardinia.
How many people in a group?
Minimum 8, maximum 16.
Can I ride my own motorcycle?
Absolutely yes! We’d love you to join with your own bike, and you will get roadside assistance like everybody else. You can see how the support works on our Bike Shed Grand Tour 2025 report. Just make sure your bike is in good working order before the trip. The tour cost without bike rental is listed on the tour page.
Do I have to carry my bag on the motorcycle?
We have a support vehicle that will take one bag per person, no matter what type or size, but it can be only one item each.
Can I ride independently or must I follow the group?
You are free to ride independently, with the tour leader/group, or both. We provide digital GPX files for your smartphone, ensuring you have the exact route even if you choose to explore solo. Our support vehicle remains available via telephone for any assistance needed during the day.
Can I keep the motorcycle for a few more days after the tour??
Absolutely. The extra days will be charged upon booking, the extra milage upon return of the bike.
Are all meals included?
All dinners are included, lunches are up to you, but we will suggest the best lunch spots so you always have a delicious experience. We pride ourselves on authentic dining—check out the culinary highlights on our Sardinia Endless Summer tour.
Can I avoid the offroad sections if any?
There is no real offroad on our tours. However, some access to country hotels or beaches may not be paved. That’s the only offroad we’ll be doing, unless clearly stated on the tour description.
I am flying from outside Europe—do I need a specific license?
If you are from outside the EU, you generally need a valid motorcycle license from your home country plus an International Driving Permit (IDP). For rentals, you must have held a full motorcycle license for at least two years.
What kind of riding gear do I need?
We always recommend proper riding gear but you can make your own choices. We advice proper boots, protective trousers/jeans, protective jacket, gloves, helmet. For tours where we reach higher altitudes, we advice to bring heavier gloves, and a jumper. If you normally ride in very cold or very warm climates let us know and we will advice further.
Is insurance included with the motorcycle rental?
Third party insurance as required by law is always included.
Additional insurance can be purchased to limit your excess in case of an accident where you are responsible. There are two options, extra HP at €20 p/d, or extra VIP at €40 p/d. You can see the level of protection these offer on the tour page in the given bike category.
